Labor Day Rally, 08′ of Barack Obama in the Colossus in Downtown Detroit

After the massive Obama/Biden rally on Labor Day 08’ in Detroit, I was astonished at the spectacular size of the crowds. Someone suggested I read an article by Frank Rich in that morning’s New York Times, in which he stated:“The disconnect between the reality of this campaign and how it is perceived and presented by the mainstream media is now a major part of the year’s story.”The truths of Mr. Rich’s words are certainly confirmed by the peculiarly paltry media coverage of the massive rally that was held in conjunction with the annual Labor Day parade. The local NBC affiliate website does mention – almost casually – that the crowd numbered in the “hundreds of thousands”. Moreover, this is a city inordinately plagued by crime, in a metro area presumed to be one of the most segregated in the U.S. Yet the crowd was significantly multi-racial, the event was peaceful, and as far as I know, without negative incident.

How did JASON SEGEL – JUDD APATOW HAS escaped from EARTHQUAKE

Judd Apatow cheated death when he was 27.The ‘Funny People’ director says he would have been killed by the 1994 Los Angeles earthquake as when it hit, the chimney crashed through the bedroom ceiling, where he should have been asleep. But just for three days.”Judd also revealed he casts the same people in his movies because he knows it’s a winning formula. Judd – whose movies include ‘Knocked Up’, ‘The 40-year-old Virgin’ and ‘Superbad’ – said: “I work with the same people over and over because it’s hard to find actors who are really funny and willing to give up all their personal problems and conversations and use them in the story. So when I find someone great I tend to stick with them.”Stars to have appeared in Judd’s films include Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel and Steve Carell.

A collaborator of hip-hop star RICK ROSS has been murdered in a drive-by shooting in Miami, Florida. Local rapper Toro, real name Derek Johnson, was travelling in a car with a pal in the early hours of Saturday (18Oct08) when a silver vehicle passed them by at around 4am. Johnson’s grandmother Addie Balwin is stunned by the killing because the rapper, who was known for his Ross collaboration Ride, was well-liked. She says, “I’m in a state of shock. He was easy going, everybody loved him – we thought.” Sometimes, if you put your hand on the rails, you can feel the train coming. It’s in the air, on the tip of everyone’s tongue. All there is to do is patiently wait So, from the good people who brought you the Roc-A-Fella dynasty, the Snowstorm and the College Dropout, we’d like to introduce you to the overnight sensation twelve years in the making: Rick Ross.

Liz’s Diamond Do Cancelled Amongst Economic Doom and Gloom

The Queen has cancelled a party to mark her diamond wedding anniversary because she felt it would be “inappropriate” to hold a lavish celebration with the country on the brink of recession. Guests at the party, which was due to be held at The Ritz this weekend, would have been served champagne from crystal-studded bottles and dined off tablecloths covered with sparkling jewels. But with her subjects facing rising bills and falling house prices, and the banking system paralyzed by the so-called “credit crunch”, the Queen has decided that the celebration would be regarded as insensitive. Her highlighting of the dire state of the economy will not be welcomed by the Prime Minister, who faces daily reminders from his advisers that the electorate has lost the “feel-good” factor – and is punishing him for it in the opinion polls.

The Annual charity of LeBron’s

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — fosfsc @ 11:44 pm

The U.S. Olympic teammates and close friends rode through the city’s streets Saturday as James hosted his annual “King for Kids” charity bike-a-thon. James and Paul pushed the pace in the lead group of bicyclists, pedaling past James’ former high school St. Vincent-St. Mary and the city’s zoo on the 8-mile route. The Cavaliers’ superstar was joined by TV host Nick Cannon, Cleveland coach Mike Brown and Cavs general manager Danny Ferry. The event ended a busy three days in Akron for James, who screened a new documentary, “More Than A Game,” the story of how he and four childhood friends from the inner city achieved their dream of winning a high school national championship. James was scheduled to travel to China on Saturday to promote the film, which will open in the U.S. in October.”There are so many people in our communities that are making this world a better place and never get the recognition — a lot of young people,” Cannon said. “I wanted to highlight all the teens who are making a difference in their community, the everyday people who are making this world tick and go around.”It’s people like Darrius who have truly inspired people, and their stories need to be told. Not only have these people overcome their own obstacles, but they’ve turned around and given back to make things easier for others.”
